12/10/2023 0 Comments Yugioh forbidden memories raigeki![]() Raigeki is not a combo piece, and because its not a quickplay it doesn't disrupt your opponent's combos, making it less useful than a well-timed infinite impermanence in many instances. The card also falls into a weird spot in the modern meta the game is based on combos. Second, in a lot of instances monsters have either built in protection ("cannot be destroyed by card effect" or effects that can negate a card like raigeki), or that benefit off destruction that make it less useful. Raigeki is a way to punish the over-extension that occurs turn 1 when the player going second does not have monster effects on board or traps to prevent that board from being built in the first place. But the game has changed a lot to the point where it's not used that often.įirst, the increasing combo-oriented style of the game has made it so that going first is a huge advantage as your opponent has less ability to respond to you building your board. Raigeki was banned for a long time, and is currently banned in the OCG. I'm by no means the most sophisticated player, so maybe someone with more expertise can explain this to me! Cheers!ĮDIT: Didn't know Raigeki was banned for years! I'm 2 Casual 2 FuriousĭOUBLE EDIT: ya boy has no friends and so only plays Yugioh: Legacy of the Duelist on PS4, where it seems everyone runs that 1 raigeki. At least with the Mirror Force traps, you can choose not to attack your opponent and potentially not trigger them, and even then, the original Mirror Force only killed your attack monsters. I played Harpies and Blackwings and loved Icarus Attack, but that makes you give up a monster, and it's a slow trap. So why isn't Raigeki banned? IMO, it feels no different. Neither card makes you discard or sacrifice or anything. Harpies Feather Duster blows away your opponent's back row. I'm an old-school Yugioh player that has dropped off a couple different times, and recently came back to the game after leaving in the middle of XYZ.Īs some old cards have been on the banlist for years and years, I've always figured it was the ones that give extreme advantage with no cost that get banned.
